Boerne City Lake

Boerne City Lake is a hot spot for residents and visitors to Boerne, Texas. The lake sits on 50 Acres of public park land.

The lake was formed as a means to assist with flood control of the Cibolo Creek Watershed of the San Antonio River Basin. A dam and reservoir were built after 1972 and in 1979 the city was granted us of the water for domestic purposes creating a permanent source of water for the city of Boerne.

The lake is huge fun for boaters of non-motorized boats! The city has maintained this policy in order to be eco-friendly and preserve the wonderful nature that is in and surrounding the lake.

Paddle boating is a big draw at the lake as it gives people a chance to relax on the lake. The paddle boats are pontoons and each features an awning and drink holders. They hold any combination of people up to 850 pounds. They run on the weekends from 11 a.m. until dark.

A new lake park was developed and finally finished in 2008. The park now has picnic space, grills, permanent restrooms, a covered pavilion, a boat dock, a fishing pier, a bird observation blind, a playground, a butterfly garden, volleyball, a 9 hole Frisbee Golf Course, controlled access gates, and paved roads and parking lots.
