Industry and tourist trade are booming in Boerne, Texas. The town, self-proclaimed “gateway to the hills,” is easily accessible from San Antonio, Houston and Austin by way of Interstate 10.

Boerne is made up of around 10,000 residents, but is expected to triple in size over the next 20 years. The city has also attracted a record number of visitors over the past year to its rolling hills and beautiful landscapes. And the visitors seem to be staying as residents. More and more executives from San Antonio are moving to Boerne.

Boerne’s German heritage plays a huge role in the city’s charm and appeal. There are multiple German festivals each year and Boerne has its own German band. The Boerne Village Band is the longest playing German band outside of Germany and they play the Abendkonzerte, outdoor concerts in the spring and summer.

A strong arts community, award winning schools, strong real-estate sales, year-round outdoor sports, community events and live music attract new visitors and residents. Cibolo Creek is also a draw in the area as well as the other beautiful agriculture.

The downtown business district is composed of unique locally owned boutique shops and restaurants in historic buildings. The city is working on attracting new retail business to the area and has started by adding fine dinning restaurants, two new hotels and a new hospital.

Although tourism is the number one trade in Boerne, driving the business growth is the high-tech industry which continues to grow at a fast pace. This means more good-paying jobs over the next 15 years. About $41.6 million in capital investment to Kendall County, along with an additional 330 jobs over the next seven years will come from Albany International Corp.

Boerne, Texas is on track to be one of the best places to live.
